Description

XLR Aluminum Hanger Bearing for ES Screw Conveyors

The XLR Aluminum Hanger Bearing supports the centre connection between adjoining screw shaft sections inside an ES tubular Screw Conveyor.

An aluminum hanger body surrounds the self-lubricating bearing position, while splined ends connect the neighbouring shaft components. Five XLR models correspond to ES168, ES193, ES219, ES273 and ES323 conveyor diameters.

The shaft connection remains consistent across the range. Dimension A changes with the conveyor diameter, allowing the hanger body to match the required installation width without changing the principal shaft interface.

XLR Product Characteristics

Product Characteristic Practical Value
Aluminum Hanger Body Forms the central support housing between adjoining screw shaft sections
Self-Lubricating Bearing Position Integrates the internal bearing support into the hanger assembly
Common 40 mm Shaft Diameter Maintains one principal shaft size across five XLR models
40 × 36 DIN 5482 Spline Provides a defined mating interface for the connected shaft components
20-Tooth Connection Gives the adjoining shaft and coupling a clear tooth configuration
Five Dimension A Values Matches the hanger body to ES168–ES323 conveyor diameters
245 mm Overall Length Keeps the main assembly length consistent throughout the XLR range

The XLR is a complete centre-support connection rather than a loose bearing selected independently from the screw shaft system.

Models and Technical Dimensions

Dimensions: mm

Model Screw Conveyor Shaft Ø A B C Mounting Thread DIN 5482 Length L Teeth Weight
XLR040B015 ES168 40 80 55 51 M14 40 × 36 245 20 3.5 kg
XLR040B017 ES193 40 92.5 55 51 M14 40 × 36 245 20 3.5 kg
XLR040B020 ES219 40 105.5 55 51 M14 40 × 36 245 20 3.9 kg
XLR040B025 ES273 40 132.5 55 51 M14 40 × 36 245 20 4.5 kg
XLR040B030 ES323 40 157.5 55 51 M14 40 × 36 245 20 5.0 kg

The five models share:

  • 40 mm shaft diameter
  • 40 × 36 DIN 5482 spline
  • 20 teeth
  • M14 mounting thread
  • 245 mm overall length
  • 55 mm dimension B
  • 51 mm dimension C

Dimension A separates the five housing sizes.

One Shaft Interface with Five Hanger-Body Widths

The XLR range keeps the shaft connection unchanged while dimension A increases with the conveyor diameter.

Conveyor Diameter XLR Model Dimension A
ES168 XLR040B015 80 mm
ES193 XLR040B017 92.5 mm
ES219 XLR040B020 105.5 mm
ES273 XLR040B025 132.5 mm
ES323 XLR040B030 157.5 mm

A 40 mm shaft and 40 × 36 spline identify the connection type but do not identify the housing size.

For example, XLR040B015 and XLR040B030 have the same shaft, spline, tooth count and overall length. Their dimension A values are 80 mm and 157.5 mm, matching different conveyor diameters.

The complete XLR model must therefore correspond with both the shaft connection and the conveyor size.

Self-Lubricating Centre Support

The self-lubricating bearing position sits inside the aluminum hanger body at the joint between two screw shaft sections.

The assembly supports the centre connection while allowing both splined ends to engage with the adjoining shaft components. The housing, internal bearing position and shaft connections work together as one unit.

A replacement should be checked against:

  • The aluminium hanger body
  • The internal bearing seat
  • Both splined ends
  • The adjoining shaft sections
  • The mating Shaft Coupling
  • The mounting position inside the conveyor

Wear in a connected shaft or coupling cannot be corrected by changing the hanger bearing alone.

Matching XLR After Screw Shaft Repairs

Previous repairs can change the shaft spacing or hanger position even when the conveyor tube remains unchanged.

A rebuilt shaft may include:

  • Shortened shaft sections
  • Rewelded shaft connections
  • Replaced couplings
  • Moved hanger positions
  • Changed gaps between adjacent Screw Flight sections

The original conveyor diameter remains an important identification point, but the current dimension A and shaft connection should also be measured.

A dimension that differs from the expected model should not be rounded to the nearest size. The installed shaft arrangement may have been altered during an earlier repair.

XLR Replacement Details

Provide the complete XLR model when the marking remains readable.

For an unmarked or modified assembly, provide:

  • Screw conveyor diameter
  • Dimension A
  • Shaft diameter
  • Spline dimensions
  • Tooth count
  • Overall length
  • Mounting thread
  • Quantity required
  • Photographs of both splined ends
  • Photographs of the installed hanger position
  • Condition of the adjoining shaft and coupling
  • Details of earlier shaft repairs or modifications

Measurements taken with a caliper are more useful than photographs without a visible scale.

Frequently Asked Questions about XLR Aluminum Hanger Bearings

Every XLR we measured is 245 mm long. Which measurement separates the models?

Measure dimension A.

The overall length remains 245 mm across the XLR range, so length cannot distinguish the five models. Dimension A changes from 80 mm for XLR040B015 to 157.5 mm for XLR040B030.

The conveyor diameter should be checked together with the A measurement.

Our conveyor tube is ES219, but the old hanger has an A dimension of 132.5 mm. Which model should we order?

Do not order from the conveyor diameter alone when the measurements conflict.

An A dimension of 132.5 mm corresponds to XLR040B025 rather than XLR040B020. The shaft system may have been modified, or the dimension may have been measured from the wrong points.

Recheck the installed position, both shaft sections and the complete housing dimensions before selecting the replacement.

One spline end is rounded, but the aluminum body is still intact. Can the old coupling remain in use?

The coupling should be inspected before installing a new XLR.

Rounded teeth, uneven wear or looseness can remain at the centre connection even after the hanger bearing is replaced. The coupling and adjoining shaft must retain the correct 20-tooth mating profile.

The screw shaft was shortened during an earlier repair. Can we order the original XLR model again?

Only after checking the current shaft spacing and hanger position.

Shortening or rewelding a shaft can change the space available for the hanger body. Confirm dimension A, the distance between shaft sections and both splined connections before repeating the original model.

The screw flights are now too close to the hanger body. Can a narrower XLR solve the clearance problem?

No.

The XLR model must match the conveyor diameter and centre connection. A narrower housing should not be used to compensate for an incorrect flight position or shaft-section gap.

The rebuilt Screw Flight layout should be corrected before the hanger bearing is installed.

The housing is aluminum and the shaft measures 40 mm. Why is that still not enough to identify the model?

All five XLR models use an aluminum body and a 40 mm shaft.

Dimension A and the conveyor diameter identify the required housing size. The 40 × 36 DIN 5482 spline and 20-tooth connection should then be checked against the adjoining shaft components.
