Description
XLY Cast Steel Hanger Bearings for TU Screw Conveyors
XLY Cast Steel Hanger Bearings support the intermediate joint between adjoining screw shaft sections in TU tubular Screw Conveyors.
The cast steel hanger body contains the self-lubricating bearing arrangement and provides splined connections for the shaft components on both sides. Four models cover TU219, TU273, TU323 and TU406 conveyor diameters.
The range includes three models with a 45 mm shaft connection and a larger configuration with a 60 mm shaft connection. This allows the hanger bearing to match both the conveyor diameter and the corresponding screw shaft assembly.
Cast Steel Support at the Centre Shaft Joint
The XLY hanger body surrounds the bearing point between two screw shaft sections. Its mounting structure, self-lubricating support and splined shaft connections are combined within one centre assembly.
Both sides connect to the adjoining shaft components through a defined DIN 5482 spline and tooth profile. The complete connection must correspond with the Screw Shaft and Shaft Coupling, rather than being selected only from the outside width of the hanger body.
XLY models can be specified for new screw shaft assemblies or used to replace an existing centre hanger bearing when the model and mating dimensions are correctly identified.
XLY Models and Technical Dimensions
Dimensions: mm
| Model | Screw Conveyor | Shaft Ø | A | C | Mounting Thread | DIN 5482 | Length L | Teeth | Weight |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| XLY045H020 | TU219 | 45 | 105.5 | 62 | M14 | 40 × 36 | 225 | 20 | 4.5 kg |
| XLY045H025 | TU273 | 45 | 132.5 | 62 | M14 | 40 × 36 | 225 | 20 | 4.7 kg |
| XLY045H030 | TU323 | 45 | 157.5 | 62 | M14 | 40 × 36 | 225 | 20 | 5.0 kg |
| XLY045H035 | TU406 | 60 | 197 | 60 | M20 | 60 × 55 | 295 | 28 | 14.0 kg |
XLY045H020, XLY045H025 and XLY045H030 share the same 45 mm shaft, 40 × 36 DIN 5482 spline, 20-tooth connection and 225 mm overall length. Dimension A changes to suit the corresponding TU219, TU273 or TU323 conveyor diameter.
XLY045H035 corresponds to TU406 and uses a 60 mm shaft, 60 × 55 spline, 28-tooth connection and 295 mm overall length.
Four Hanger Sizes for TU219 to TU406
The cast steel hanger body increases in width with the screw conveyor diameter:
| Conveyor Size | XLY Model | Dimension A |
|---|---|---|
| TU219 | XLY045H020 | 105.5 mm |
| TU273 | XLY045H025 | 132.5 mm |
| TU323 | XLY045H030 | 157.5 mm |
| TU406 | XLY045H035 | 197 mm |
The first three models use one common shaft interface, but their hanger bodies are not interchangeable. Each dimension A corresponds to a different conveyor diameter.
The TU406 model combines the wider body with a larger shaft and spline connection. The corresponding shaft components must therefore be selected with the complete XLY model rather than from the conveyor diameter alone.
Matching the Hanger Bearing with the Screw Shaft
The XLY sits between adjoining shaft sections, so the connections on both sides must match the hanger bearing.
For TU219, TU273 and TU323 configurations, the mating shaft arrangement uses:
- 45 mm shaft diameter
- 40 × 36 DIN 5482 spline
- 20 teeth
The TU406 configuration uses:
- 60 mm shaft diameter
- 60 × 55 DIN 5482 spline
- 28 teeth
The Shaft Coupling must correspond with the same spline and tooth profile. Matching only the shaft diameter is not sufficient when the coupling dimensions or tooth count are different.
The adjacent Screw Flight sections also need a clear centre gap for the hanger body. The correct XLY model should not be replaced with a narrower housing to compensate for an incorrectly rebuilt shaft or flight position.
Replacing an Existing XLY Hanger Bearing
A readable model marking provides the most direct replacement reference.
When the marking is missing, identify the assembly from:
- Screw conveyor diameter
- Shaft diameter
- Dimension A
- DIN 5482 spline
- Tooth count
- Overall length
- Mounting thread
Photographs should include the cast steel hanger body, both splined connections and the adjoining coupling.
For a conveyor that has previously received a replacement shaft or coupling, use the current physical dimensions rather than relying only on the original conveyor designation. The replacement must match the components that remain in the assembly.
Frequently Asked Questions about XLY Cast Steel Hanger Bearings
Our old part is marked XLU406H035. Which XLY model should replace it?
Use XLY045H035 after confirming the TU406 dimensions and mating connection.
The assembly should have a 60 mm shaft, 60 × 55 DIN 5482 spline, 28 teeth, M20 mounting thread and 295 mm overall length.
We know the conveyor is TU273. Is that enough to order XLY045H025?
TU273 identifies XLY045H025 as the corresponding model, but the existing shaft connection should still be checked when the conveyor has been repaired or modified.
Confirm the 45 mm shaft, 40 × 36 spline, 20-tooth connection and 132.5 mm dimension A before ordering the replacement.
Can XLY045H020, XLY045H025 and XLY045H030 be interchanged because they use the same shaft connection?
No.
They share the same shaft, spline, tooth count and overall length, but the cast steel hanger-body width is different. Each model corresponds to a specific conveyor diameter.
Can the same shaft coupling be used with all three 45 mm XLY models?
The spline and tooth arrangement are the same, but the complete coupling must also match the internal shaft tube and the required coupling dimensions.
Confirm the existing coupling size rather than selecting it only from the 40 × 36 spline specification.
Can a coupling used with XLY045H030 be retained when changing to XLY045H035?
No.
XLY045H030 uses a 40 × 36 spline with 20 teeth, while XLY045H035 uses a 60 × 55 spline with 28 teeth. The shaft sections and coupling must match the larger TU406 connection.
We replaced one screw shaft section but kept the original XLY. What should be checked before reassembly?
Confirm that the replacement shaft has the same spline, tooth count and engagement position as the original connection.
The distance between the shaft sections and the open space between the adjacent screw flights must also remain suitable for the existing hanger body.
